[msnbc] U.S. food inspectors overwhelmed by imports

Link to the article

So proud and have-all-the-right-to-be-anal FDA is proven to be doing nothing to protect the people in the US. As suspected, “By its own latest accounting, the FDA only had enough inspectors to check about 1 percent of the 8.9 million imported food shipments in fiscal year 2006.” If you have been keeping track of all the news from China WRT food problem, you will really be terrified (and I wouldn’t use the wooden chopstick imported from China if I were you).

Please, please, now-Democrat-controlled Congress, bring soldiers home and end all the oversea aggressions. Let’s spend the money on the real public safety and wellness instead. That is why you were elected and are being paid for by my very precious tax money.

FF5

I think I just have to finish Omega, Shinryu, Ex-Death and Neo Ex-Death before I beat the game. What a game! Even though playing English version is somewhat painful because of the bad translation and cultural difference in the language, FF5 is still a great game. I wouldn’t say it is the best FF (story is a bit weak), but the job system is indeed one of the best systems in FF series.

Once I am done with it, I am going to get FF6 Adv. It will take sometime until FF12:RW comes out in the US, so FF6 will keep me busy for a while.

Sold STEC, Bought YHOO

I finally sold STEC in this morning in order to buy YHOO. I loss 30% or so from STEC (the first stock purchase… bad pick/timing, good experience), so I wasn’t going to sell it. However, YHOO fell down almost 12% in this morning because of the disappointing earning report, and I don’t see any other way to recover 30% loss from STEC anytime soon by holding onto it, so I sold all STEC shares and bought YHOO after consulting with my wife (think she has a good sense of this kind of thing). Hopefully I can recover some of 30% loss from STEC by EOY.

A few things learned from the first stock trade:

  • Never buy a stock when it starts coming down from the peak.
  • Need to be able to read at least 3-5yrs of data.
  • Check the cash flow (Thanks, Srikanth, for the tip).
  • If you want a stable income, buy a stock of stable companies.
