억지로 바꿀려고 하지 마라
몇일 전 노무현 전 대통령이 자살을 해서 서거하셨다. 대한민국 대통령 중에서 그나마 조금이라도 존경을 했던 분이라서 크게 두가지 다른 이유로 기분이 씁씁했다.
노무현 전 대통령의 자살에 대해서 세상 사람들은 현 정권이 죽였다고 한다. 나도 그렇게 생각한다. 평생 깨끗하게 살려고 노력하신 것 같은데 그런 상황에 놓여진 자기 자신이 얼마나 비참하고 힘들었을까.
이명박이 대통령 되면서 난 열분을 토했다. 어떻게 저런 인간을 대통령으로 뽑았냐고. 대한민국 사람들 political mind 전혀없다고. 그런 나라 17년 전 아주 잘 떠났다고. 이명박 정권 끝날 때까지 그 땅 안밟을거라고.
지금은 그냥 그려느니 반 포기 상태다. 이렇게 열분을 토해서 뭐하랴. 바뀌지 않는다. 바꿀려고 해서 전혀 안바뀐다. 그 대상이 바뀌기 전까지는 다 의미 없는 짓이다. 내 속만 상한다. 내 마음만 나뻐진다. 아무 의미 없는 일에 내 시간만 낭비한다.
나이가 들면서 불감증이 생기는 것인가. 아님 내 살 것만 신경쓰는 것인가. 아님 포기 하는 법을 배우는 것인가. 아니, 아주 다 귀찮아지는 것인가. 모르겠다. 그냥 공으로 돌아가고 싶을 뿐이다. 그 마음 때문에 공으로 못 돌아가고 있다.

올해도 벌써 두 달이 지났다. 두 달이라… 두 달 동안 기억나는 것은 정말 바쁘게 일했다는 것과 Whistler여행 뿐이다 (돈만 조금 더 있고 시간만 더 있으면 다시 한번 가보고 싶다… 근데 둘다 없구나. ㅡ.ㅡ). 어떻게 생각하면 참 슬픈 일이다. 개인적으론 그렇다고 치고, 첫 아이를 임심한 와이프랑 저녁도 같이 못 먹을 때가 많다. (그래서 요즘 와이프는 6시반, 7시에 퇴근한다고 연락만 하면 너무 좋아한다. ^_^;)
난 왜 계속 이렇게 바쁜지 가끔 생각이 든다. 무엇을 위해서 바쁜 것인가. 꼭 이렇게 바쁘게 살아야 하는 것인가? 누가 특별히 시켜서 하는 것도 아니다. (부하직원이 모잘라서 그렇다곤 할 수 있다. 하지만 충분해도 딴일 만들어서 바쁠 수 있는 역량(?)이 다분하다. ㅡ.ㅡv) 입사하고 2년반이 지난 지금, 생각해보면 많은 것을 했고 average person보단 직위도, 진급도 조금 더 빨리 올랐다고 생각한다. 하지만 지금도 무엇을 위해 열심히 일하고 있는지 확실히 모르겠다. 돈? 직위? 물론 돈도 좋고 일하다 보면 직위도 나쁜 것은 아니다. 하지만 그것들을 위해서, 흔히 말하는 성공하고 위해서 이렇게 거의 미치듯이 일하는 것은 아닌 것 같다. 어떻게 생각하면 그냥 내 자신에 대한 자존심인가 하는 생각이 든다. 열심히 안 살면 내 자신한테 쪽팔려서. 그래, 쪽팔린다. 가끔 열심히 안 사는 사람들을 보면 문특 드는 생각은 ‘자신한테 안 쪽팔리나?’이다.
그럼 내 자신한테 쪽팔리지 않을려고 열심히 사는 나는 행복한가? 형복할테도 있고 다 때려 치우고 싶을 때도 있고 (like 오늘). 정답은 없다. 그리 나쁘진 않다. 왜냐면 세상만사가 다 정답이 없기 때문이다.
오늘 회사에서 주는 상을 받았다. 2년 연속이다. 아무래도 지난 3개월동안 열심히 일한 보답을 매내져가 해준거 같다 (뭐 열심히 물어볼 때 뭔가 수상은 했다. ㅎㅎㅎ). 보너스 액수도 지금 경기로 봤을 때 전혀 나쁘지 않다 (처음에 편지를 읽었을 때 0하나 덜봐서 약간 실망했었다. ㅎㅎㅎ) 오늘만은 내 자신한테 덜 쪽팔리다. 열심히 살았다는 증거 또 하나가 생겼으니깐. 근데 회사야, 보너스 좀 깍고 멋있는 상패를 더해주면 안되겠니? 나도 아버지께서 엣날 대한항공 입사시절에 받았던 큰 상패 같은 것를 하나 갖고 싶단 말야. ㅎㅎㅎ
경기불황으로 언제가 될지 모르는 다음 진급때까지 “고고씽~”

Historic Win
On Tuesday Barack Obama has won the presidential election. What does this mean to us?
First of all, he is the first Afro-American president of the United States. This means a lot to Afro-American people who have been oppressed socially and financially throughout the history of the United States. This is really something to celebrate for them. He will be written in the history for them to be proud of, for them to realize everything is really possible now, and for more of them to try harder to penetrate the social barrier, if there is any. However, it is more than about Afro-American. If you broaden the picture, he is the first minority president. As he is giving not only Afro-American people but every minority in the United States the hope and possibility. He is truly the first step of all possibilities to minorities.
Apart from who Barack Obama is, this election is also about people’s power. This election realizes that when we work together, anything can be done. We have to realize that Obama has a large range of support from ordinary people and grass-root organizations. This brings us another hope; people’s power.
What else? Change. People want the change. People are sick and tired of how things are done in old way, how government is being dysfunctional in many social issues. This election is about change.
It reminds to be seen how Obama administration will execute all the promises he had made during the campaign. Will there be change? Will American society change? Will the foreign policy change towards more cooperative dialog solution? I don’t know. No one knows. Thus we need to keep on watching. Obama knows how powerful people are. We will have to keep let him know that we are watching and we will tell him if he is not going to the right way. I want to believe that he will listen to us.
