Windows Media Format

Converting AVCHD format to WMF is probably the easiest and the most inexpensive. Windows Live Movie Maker provides basic functionality to convert AVCHD format to WMF. If you are looking for more control and better interface, Microsoft Expression Encoder 3, which is free for WMF converting, is probably the best bet.

DivX

This is where I get stuck - more research under way.
